LES VIGNOBLES DU DOMAINE DES VAROILLES

In Burgundy, the soil is of crucial importance. The best soils are the marls, te loose clayey and chalky rocks. Pinot Noir loves marly, quite chalky, well drained ground. Where the soil is deep, clayey or alluvial, the Pinot grape will produce a full-bodied wine.
At medium altitudes, on predominantly chalk soils, this noble grape offers us its most exquisite wines. By virtue of its diversity, the soil of Burgundy provides marvellous examples of its influence on the wine. The different soil types are reflected in the diversity of the wines, each with its special characteristics.
